A Unique Opportunity for Young Dancers
The SpinUp Youth Dance Platform is a one of a kind event to celebrate Bedford's young dancers.
It is a full day event comprising of multiple dance workshops with local artists, a professional photoshoot and culminating in a fantastic theatre performance for friends, family and the general public. The aim of SpinUp is to provide dancers aged 5-18 with the experience of working with other young dancers, explore other dance styles and get the chance to get professional photos for themselves and their dance school.
In a time where dance schools are often competing with one another, SpinUp aims to bring us all together to learn from and support each other.
Children get the opportunity to perform in a professionally produced show for loved ones and the public.
The show is arranged as a Variety Performance, which means the children and their teachers will plan their pieces in advance in their usual lessons.
The day will also include a Tech Run in the theatre before the show itself, allowing the teachers to bring their vision to life.
All young dancers will get the opportunity to work with local choreographers in different dance styles. The piece they learn will become part of the show at the end of the day.
Choreographers will be assisted by Youth Leaders, dance students aged 16-18, who will help the children perform the dance pieces later in the day.
We aim to provide a wider breadth of dance education by introducing dance styles that children may otherwise not be learning. In our first platform, we had a British Sign Language dance workshop, which also provided children with the basics of BSL as well as movement development and stylisation.
We bring in a professional photographer, who will work with the dancers to capture both group and solo photographs.
Teachers have the option to also appear in these photos.
Photos will also be taken during the workshops and show itself.
Photographs will be available for purchase within two weeks after the platform. Special packages are available for teachers.
